THE CANDIDATES

 RICK NEWTON

Born in Hannibal, MO (hometown of Mark Twain and the unsinkable Molly Brown), Rick chose New Mexico to be his home back in 1969 and has lived in Taos full time for the past 14 years.  His career includes 25 years working with Special Forces and Navy Seals operations; participating in the Soviet nuclear threat assessments, participating in finding sunken ships (and treasure) and other searches. Newton maintains a top secret security clearance. “I am committed to fundamental change from the path we are on and this change must be completed in 2 to 6 years. I will apply all I’ve learned from my career to bring real change and not allow Washington to change me into a career politician. I look forward to living under every law I help to pass.”  For more information, visit www.ricknewton2012.com.
JEFF BYRD

Jeff was born in the rural town of Springer, N.M. and was raised on the small family ranch outside of Mosquero.  He has always considered the 3rd Congressional District home. Byrd earned an Agricultural Engineering degree from NMSU and worked as a project engineer at Environeering, Inc.  After the unexpected death of his father, he took over managing the ranch full time.  He is married to his wife, Suzanne, and has two sons.  I want to take the government back for the people as defined by the constitution. I will be a representative of the people; for the people.”  For more information, visit www.jeffbyrd2012.com.
